Updates to Duals for WATC 2022

August 2nd, 2022

Due to app issues that have intermittently affected the Duals system through the Summer 2022 league, WATL is making some adjustments to how Duals teams will qualify for Worlds.

Effective immediately, there will be two changes:

  1. The number of Duals teams eligible to qualify for WATC 2022 will be increased from 96 to 128. The additional entries will be added as follows:
    • 24 additional Circuit Point, Non-Regional bids will be added
    • 8 additional Qualifier positions will be added
  2. Instead of Circuit Points being earned by teams cumulatively through 4 leagues (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall), Circuit Points will be assigned to all duals teams based on their TOP 3 SEASONAL Leagues through 2022.

This means, if as a duals team you participated in all four seasons through the year, you will receive Circuit Points for your top three seasons. If a team only participated in three seasons, they will receive those Circuit Points.

As many of you know, WATL has taken great pains NOT to make mid-year, gameplay or bid-affecting changes. However, given the nature of the issues with Duals in Summer League, we have heard loud and clear from players and venues that they were unable to effectively participate in or operate a Duals league. This puts many teams at a disadvantage through no fault of their own, and thus why we have chosen to make this adjustment.
