We are extremely excited to announce that WAKTC (World Axe and Knife Throwing Championships) will be taking place in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the WeStreet Ice Center on April 18-21, 2024.

“This event will not only be a fantastic way to introduce folks to the brand new WeStreet Ice Center, but a unique opportunity for Tulsa to be in front of global audiences via the ESPN broadcast. We look forward to welcoming international competitors for this action-packed event this spring in partnership with WeStreet Ice Center and Got Wood Axe Throwing.”

Joel Koester, Director of Sales for the Tulsa Sports Commission

WeStreet will host 256 Hatchet throwers, 128 Big Axe throwers, 128 Duals teams, along with 128 knife throwers, all of whom represent the most elite throwers in the sport from around the world. Over 375 unique throwers are expected to participate in the event.

WeStreet Ice Center is a 140,000-square-foot multi-purpose facility located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Opening in early 2024, it will serve as the practice facility for the Tulsa Oilers hockey team, the ‘AA’ affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks. More than just an ice rink, WeStreet will be home to a full-service restaurant, sports bar, and a virtual reality arcade.

WATL and WKTL are pleased to be working with several local partners as well as Got Wood Axe Throwing to assist in the planning and execution of this event.

“In the past 7 years I’ve watched the Championship grow from a streamed event with just a handful of participants to over 350 throwers with an ESPN broadcast.  This tremendous growth is all because of our passionate community of throwers, affiliates, and the WATL support staff.  I’m truly looking forward to my first World Championship as Commissioner in Tulsa.”

Sarah Sed, incoming World Axe Throwing League Commissioner
