WATL U.S. Open Recap

August 17th, 2018

That’s a wrap folks! We had such an amazing time at this years World Axe Throwing League US Open in Chicago IL! The Axe Throwing US Open was hosted at Bad Axe Throwing’s Lakeview location. The 8 lane facility comfortably hosted over 80 participants from all over the world!

2018 US Open Tournament

Participants arrived at the Bad Axe Throwing Chicago Lakeview to complete an early registration, grab their swag bag and size up their competition. Free axe throwing was available to participants to help them get a feel for the axes if they didn’t bring their own and the new targets if they had never thrown at the Lakeview location before.

We were so lucky to have so many amazing throwers from all over come to join us. Including many from our affiliated locations. We had throwers from, Houston Axe Throwing, Jack Axes, Halimac, Bury the Hatchet, Bad Axe Throwing and Angry Axe which were all WATL locations but we had many more throwers from all over!

The best of the best arrived (along with their entourage), with their game faces on, ready to compete. WATL judges were assigned to keep score and move the finalist onto the final phase of the tournament. The crowd watched intensely from the sidelines.

1st place went to John Bradley from KickAxe Throwing. John walked away with a whopping $5,000 AND the first ever WATL US Open Championship ring!
