WATL State Profile: Ohio

Returning from Dublin, Ireland to Dublin, Ohio and the rest of the state. The growth of axe throwers and their skill across the state of Ohio has increased immensely in the last year and now has multiple representatives headed to the World Axe Throwing Championship in December with the possibility to add 2-3 more this fall.

Ohio’s Top Talent

Impressive showings from Tyler Flynn, Josh Russo and Zach Crawford at WATL tournaments in the last two months have secured Ohio’s spot on the map. A pair of top 6 showings at AngryWood alongside a top 12 finish for Crawford in a stacked US Open field is nothing short of impressive.

Class Axe Cincinnati and Cleveland

Two of Class Axe’s ten locations find a home in Ohio. Cleveland and Cincinnati are two of Ohio’s major cities and are well served in the axe throwing community. Throw Nation is the home axe range for both Zach Crawford and Joshua Russo, two of Ohio’s top throwers. They hosted the 2019 WATL Arnold Classic that led to the explosion of high level competition we’ve seen this year. Axetreme Sports in the Northeast end of Cleveland is owned by Alan Thompson, an active member of the WATL community. Joining the WATL in April of this year, Axetreme Sports could hold a dark horse spot for a worlds seed at the end of the fall season.
