WATL City Profile: Chicago

Chicago is this week’s stop on the World Axe Throwing League world tour! With one of the largest concentrations of axe throwing venues in Chicago and it’s suburban area of anywhere in North America it made perfect sense to feature it as our next stop.

Chicago’s Top Talent

Despite Chicago’s depth of venues only a few names have risen from the professional scene in Chicago. Cody Baker who made a semi-finals appearance in last years World Championship and Ike Grevers who had an impressive showing this year at Throwdown Axe Festival finishing Top 16 and missing Top 12 by less than a splinter on a killshot.

World Axe Throwing League Affiliates in Chicago

Bad Axe Throwing (West Loop) and (Lake View)

Bad Axe Chicago hosted both last year’s US Open and World Axe Throwing Championship. With two locations in downtown Bad Axe hosts the largest leagues in the city.

Axeplosion Axe Throwing Lounge

Axeplosion has three venue scattered amongst the suburbs of Chicago. At over 20,000 combined feet of space it’s the largest footprint of axe throwing in the city!

Mobile Axe Throwing

One of the WATL’s only mobile axe throwing ranges, Mobile Axe Throwing based in Chicago can make sure you get your axe throwing fix wherever you need it. With a custom built trailer and 5 targets to choose from it really is a venue on wheels.

Ragnarok Axe Throwing

Ragnarok is the only other downtown location in Chicago. Featuring 2 fully equipped axe throwing “suites” Asgard and Valhalla, Ragnarok can accommodate groups of up to 44 people for hours of axe throwing enjoyment!

Throw Nation Chicago

Throw Nation has two locations Chicago, IL and Dublin, OH. While the Chicago location hasn’t reached the popularity of the location in Ohio, it’s still an awesome part of the WATL community in Chicago. Throw Nation will be represented at the World Axe Throwing Championship by Josh Russo and has the potential to be joined by another thrower as well after strong league performances in Ohio.

Accelerate Axe Throwing 

Accelerate Axe Throwing is part of a huge indoor entertainment complex that includes an arcade, bar, go karting and most importantly axe throwing. Sister companies with Autobahn Indoor Speedway the total number of locations in the WATL sits at 8!
