We have seen some incredible work come from the WATL Certified Craftsman Program since it was first launched in March.
In order to showcase their hard work and dedication to craft, WATL is introducing the 2021 WATL Craftsman Awards.
What is a Certified Craftsman
A WATL Certified Craftsman is a 3rd party axe seller who customizes WATL axes. They are business owners and/or individuals that have extensive experience in customizing, restoring, and maintaining axes.

Participants
Members of the Craftsmen Program have been invited to participate in the first annual WATL Craftsman Awards.
The 2021 WATL Craftsman Awards will be presented at the World Axe Throwing Championships in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, December 12th.
All participants in the 2021 WATL Craftsman Awards must be a member of the Certified Craftsman Program by September 30th, 2021

The Awards
Each category will have two awards: Best In Show Award and the Community Choice Award:
There will be two categories for the Craftsman Awards:
- Standard Hatchet
- Big Axe

Rules of the Craftsman Awards
- All participants must be a member of the Certified Craftsman Program by September 30th, 2021
- All Participants are allowed 1 entry for each category:
- 1 Standard Hatchet entry
- 1 Big Axe entry
- All Axes need to have been completed in 2021
- All Submitted Axes must be WATL Axes
- Participants may submit up to 4 photos for each Category:
- 4 photos of Standard Hatchet
- 4 photos of Big Axe
- All designs must adhere to the WATL Code of Conduct
- All Entries Must Be Submitted by November 1st, 2021 to [email protected]
What Is Best In Show
- Best In Show is made up of the WATL Council Votes.
- All items are judged out of a score of 10
- The final score of each submission will be scored by taking the average score of each category.

Presentation __/10
What Is the Community Choice?
The Community Choice Award will be done via online voting on the photos provided.
Voting will take place with other Community Choice Awards ahead of the World Axe Throwing Championships.
The Community Choice Winner is decided by the highest number of votes.
Votes are limited to one vote per person.
Prizes
Each prize winner will receive a Craftsman Trophy and a $500 Credit to the WATL Store.
