WATL Approved Axes For League

With dozens of new throwers joining the axe throwing community daily. We thought it was important to offer insight to those looking for their axe of choice, why they should choose a WATL approved axe and which one is right for them? The current lineup of WATL approved axes includes, The Corporal, The Ace of Spades, The Butcher, The Bad Axe, The Raptor and eventually a WATL produced Big Axe (yet to be named). Today we break down each axe’s strengths and which one you should choose.

The reason we recommend WATL axes is simple. They’re created specifically for axe throwing. With ultra thin profiles out of the box we save you time, money and the headache of profiling them yourself. We offer near maximum handle length to allow throwers of any height and style to adjust their handle length without having to rehang an axe head. They, of course, fall within all WATL axe regulations.

The Ace of Spades

  • Forged Teardrop Blade: Engineered specifically for axe throwing this blade allows throwers a great deal of flexibility in under and over rotation. Longest Blade Length: 3 and 10/16″
  • Ultra Thin Ready to Throw Profiling: Less than 1/16″ at the blade allows for the easiest penetration of the target board.
  • 16″ Straight Handle: Handle length designed to be adjusted based on throwing needs and left straight to prevent unintended rotation in the hand.
  • Soft Custom Fitted Full Head Sheath: There is nothing worse than cutting open the inside of a backpack or travel bag, our new axes all ship with custom fitted sheaths.
  • Lightweight Design: at only 897g in total weight, the Ace of Spades was designed to be light and agile

Who is this axe for? Beginner to Intermediate throwers still finding their proper rotational distance. Advanced throwers who prefer a lightweight or more forgiving axe. Strengths: Rotational Forgiveness, Weight. Drawback: Lack of blade surface compared to Corporal or Butcher.
