[Test] Opponent Scoring Process
Scoring Procedure
For All Disciplines
Currently in testing
Please note that the following scoring process is strictly in a testing phase in 2026. Some, all, or none of the elements of this system may be implemented in the future.
Leagues & Tournaments
In each individual game within a match the Scorekeeper will serve as the primary scoring mechanism using the following process:
- The Scorekeeper is responsible for calling the score of the thrower/teams implement(s) thrown during that game. The score call should be made from behind the fault line once all implements have come to a stop.
- Scores do not have to exclusively be made from behind the fault line, as multi-implement disciplines can be difficult to score from a distance. Initial Scorekeeper calls may be disputed at confirmation.
- Competitors/Teams must remain behind the fault line until scores have been called by the Scorekeeper.
- The Competitors/Teams will confirm the call of the implement(s) with the Scorekeeper or if they disagree with the call they can dispute the call.
- The act of confirming a call is a clear verbal confirmation the Competitors/Teams relay to the Scorekeeper agreeing with their initial call.
- If both Competitors/Teams agree, the scores are entered into the app.
- Prior to the start of each event, the Head Judge should explain to the competitors what they expect in regards to verbal confirmations. Confirmations must be clear and audible to both Competitors/Teams and to the Scorekeepers.
- The act of confirming a call is a clear verbal confirmation the Competitors/Teams relay to the Scorekeeper agreeing with their initial call.
- If a Competitor/Team disputes a call, the Scorekeeper will then come forward to inspect the implement and either reiterate their original score or confirm an updated score.
- If there is an updated score from the scorekeeper and both competitors/teams are in agreement on a scoring change, the Scorekeeper may make that change without the need for Head Judge involvement.
- If the Competitors/Teams still dispute the Scorekeeper’s call and cannot agree on the score(s), a Head Judge will be summoned to make a final determination. The Head Judge’s call is final.
- Competitors/Teams, Advocates, and the Scorekeeper must return to and remain behind the fault line for the discipline while the Head Judge makes their determination.
- During the Head Judge’s inspection, the Head Judge alone may remove the relevant implement if required to determine the actual scoring area it is located in after notifying the competitors of their action.
- When the Head judge is called to score, they must score every implement in the board.
Additional Clarifications
- Implements must remain in the target untouched until a score has been officially confirmed by both opponents AND/OR a final call has been made by the Head Judge.
- If an implement is touched or removed prior to official confirmation,
- FIRST OFFENSE (In a match): The lower score of the call will be officially entered into the app for the relevant Competitor’s/Team’s Implement(s).
- SECOND OFFENSE (In a match): A fault will be recorded + a CoC warning will be issued by the Head Judge. Any additional occurrences will result in escalated CoC-based consequences as determined by the Head Judge.
- If an implement is touched or removed prior to official confirmation,
- Foot Fault rules in this procedure are adjusted to the following:
| Version | Rule Language |
|---|---|
| Current | “If a competitor touches any part of the lane, equipment, or building past the fault line once the lane is active and before all scores are called, that throw is a fault.” |
| Testing | “If a competitor or team member touches any part of the lane, equipment, or building past the fault line before initial scores have been called by the Scorekeeper, that throw is a fault.” |
- If a scorekeeper can no longer score or is in need of a break, anyone can replace them so long as both competitors/teams are in agreement.
- Prior to the start of a match, any competitor can declare to the Scorekeeper that they would like to have an Advocate assist them in the event they need help determining a call.
- This Advocate will be beholden to the same rules and Code of Conduct expected of all competitors.
- If at any point during a match the Advocate becomes a hindrance to the Scorekeeper, the Head Judge can be called over to remove the Advocate from the match.
- Scorekeepers will announce which throw the game is on, as well as the current score of the match at the start of each throw. Scorekeepers will also verbally acknowledge Killshots when called.
