The 9th World Axe Throwing Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is officially wrapped! Congratulations to the winners and a huge thank you to everyone who attended, it was a truly special event.
It was a weekend showcasing the very best of the best in all disciplines, and the champions truly earned their spots in this sport’s history. These individuals, and all the competitors, have put thousands of hours, and millions of throws, into achieving what they did this weekend. Their dedication to excellence is something to be admired and recognized.
We cannot WAIT to see what next year brings. The eyes of the world are on you, and you deserve it!

It would be a mistake not to recognize those individuals that may not have won this time, including past competitors, and those hopeful future champions. This sport comes down to the closest of margins, and the win could have easily gone to any of these individuals. A huge congrats for their accomplishments and stellar performances!

Recognizing excellence in our sport is important, not only for the highest achieving athletes, but the venues and individuals who give to the community without a second thought. Our awards only capture a small fraction of our vast community in that regard.

The fifth annual Craftsman Awards invited our Certified Makers in the Craftsman Program to showcase their exceptional skills and creations. These awards are all about highlighting the talent and dedication of our craftsmen while recognizing the top creators who truly embody the spirit of innovation and artistry.
The Craftsman Awards were judged through a combination of community voting and panel judging. This approach balances community engagement with expert evaluation.

Hall of Fame Inductee: Distinguished Service Award
This year, Benn Macdonald is officially retiring from WATL. This World Championship was his last with us. We are proud to announce that Benn MacDonald will be the first inductee into the WATL Hall of Fame with the Distinguished Service Award.

For nearly a decade, Benn MacDonald has served as the Head Judge, member of the WATL Council, a founding member of WATL, a trusted confidant, and a friend. His contributions to the rules, the structure, and the culture of this community have been nothing short of remarkable. Benn has shaped this sport in ways that will be felt for many years.
WATL will dearly miss him, but we will always carry forward the standard he helped set. His commitment to this sport and this community will never be forgotten.
