The entry structure for the 2021 US Open will be as follows:

  • Top 16 throwers from WATC 2020 (top 8 throwers Big Axe/Duals) will receive automatic invitations.
    • These throwers will still need to throw in the Open Qualifiers to secure their seeding, just as seeding for WATC was done.
  • 8 champions from the Winter Regional tournaments held March 5-7 (8 entries Big Axe/Duals) will receive automatic invitations.
    • If any of these throwers also completed qualifying throws, those scores will be used as seeding. If they did not participate in qualifying throws, they will complete seeding throws at the US Open prior to the start of the tournament.
    • If any regional tournaments or specific discipline tournaments do not occur, entries are converted to additional Open Qualifier lottery entries
    • Any declined Regional Tournament entries are converted to additional Open Qualifier lottery entries
  • 64 Entries from Open Qualifiers (32 entries Big Axe/Duals)
  • 40 Entries from lottery (16 entries Big Axe/Duals)
    • 30 from Open Qualifiers (12 entries Big Axe/Duals)
      • Throwers who completed Open Qualifiers but did not make the cut for top 64 still have a chance at securing an entry through a lottery draw.
    • 10 from general draw (4 entries Big Axe/Duals)
      • Entries will be randomly drawn from entrants who submit no later than February 19
      • The winners will complete their seeding throws at the US Open prior to the start of the tournament.
      • Throwers who competed in Open Qualifiers will automatically be entered into the separate Open Qualifiers lottery draw and will not submit for the general lottery draw.
