The best axe throwers in the world will compete for a place in the finals, to be broadcast on ESPN, and for a prize pool of $50,000!
We are extremely excited to announce that the 2022 World Axe and Knife Throwing Championships will be taking place in Appleton, Wisconsin! The Fox Cities Exhibition Center in Downtown Appleton will host the WATC and WKTC from Thursday, December 1 through Sunday, December 4.

“Hosting The World Axe and Knife Throwing Championships in Appleton is truly an incredible honor for everyone involved,” stated Matt Ten Haken, Director of Sports Marketing for the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau.”
Fox Cities will play host to the top 256 Hatchet throwers, 128 Big Axe throwers, and 128 Duals teams alongside 64 knife throwers, all of whom are the most elite throwers in the sport from around the world.
The Fox Cities Exhibition Center in Appleton, Wisconsin is over 30,000sq/ft of open space that will be transformed into a premiere axe and knife throwing venue for that weekend only. WATL and WKTL have partnered with the recently renovated Hilton Appleton Paper Valley Hotel for accommodations, and competitors will not even have to leave the comfort of the indoors, with skywalk access to the event space, and multiple high -quality dining options contained right within the hotel. In addition to the amenities that will be offered by the hosts, guests will have access to over 60 dining options, 50 shops and 30 night-life spots all within walking distance of the space.
WATL is pleased to be working with local venues to assist in the planning and execution of this event.
